The psychology of the future self is a relatively new field of study and has driven the creation of the financial therapy industry. Our human brains are stuck with an illusion that this is their final version. Watch the TED Talk with Dr. Daniel Gilbert to learn more about this concept.
I want you to reclaim your imagination. I help people—especially those who lack the means, knowledge, or trust to access traditional financial planning—see themselves in the future, not as a stranger with an old-age problem to budget for, but as a fun friend with hopes and dreams.
Most saving and investing problems are not number problems, they are emotion and psychology problems. This isn’t about retirement calculators or woo-woo manifesting. I help you create a relationship and continuity with your future self so you can create realistic saving and investing goals.

In order to care about saving and investing for our future self, we first need to feel similar and connected to them. Like a friend who needs our help. First we make an inventory of your past self versions to improve the relationship between now and later by identifying the thread that holds them all together.

Does planning long term medical care and social security checks sound boring to you? Yea me too. Friends are fun, so we take the thread and make with a vision board 5 years in the future. So close you can feel it. Here we use your 5 senses: sound, taste, smell, touch, and sight. No numbers or goals just yet.

Planning for the future isn't just about goals, it's about sacrifices. Our future is also about the pathes we don't take. Here we identify financial and non-financial sacrifices or goals you need to make in order to reach that 5 year future. Then we evaluate where you stand in the 6 phases of financial well-being.

Not manifesting wealth? Feeling like you're doing it wrong? The path to wealth can be simple. But it isn't easy. Complex emotions, beliefs, noise, and family dynamics lay the foundations of your financial well-being journey. In the last step, we address which ones are going to hold you back on making progress.
"I’ve worked with Jessalyn for three years, and what I appreciate most is how real and grounded she is. She’s not 'woo woo' - she’s professional, thoughtful, and has the story to back up her advice. Jessalyn helped me see that financial independence isn’t magic — it’s achievable. She met me exactly where I was, helped me understand the story behind my money, and guided me toward choices that actually make sense for my life and values. Her focus on simplicity and clarity replaced my FOMO with confidence."

No. I do not manage or invest money on behalf of clients. Think of me as your financial wellness coach. My ideal client is someone interested in DIY saving and investing who can call upon their coach to help make difficult emotional decisions. You may still need to hire a financial advisor or planner for specific investing advice separate from my services.
Not in the clinical sense, no. I cannot diagnose you or any mental conditions, I cannot prescribe you any medication, and I cannot recommend financial advice to you. I am a financial therapy-informed coach.
I am currently a candidate for the CFT™ (Certified Financial Therapist) certification from the Financial Therapy Association in the US. CFT™ professionals help clients navigate the complex relationship between emotions and money. Before obtaining the CFT™ certification, I will have to pass a rigorous exam, abide by an ethical code of conduct, and perform a certified number of certified client service hours. I am also a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in the State of Colorado since 2011. You can read more about my journey to becoming a financial therapy-informed coach at my research website www.thedunevision.com [coming soon].
I only work with clients that are financially solvent. This means that your "financial house" is not on fire. If you are currently experiencing job loss, bankruptcy, debt collection, mounting credit card bills, or other strong un-met basic needs then my work is not the right fit for you.
Yes. However, I am a kind of digital nomad and primarily operate remotely. I am available for virtual consultations and occasionally offer in-person group workshops.
My goal is to offer my services low-cost or for free. But people value things that they pay for. I am still in the process of developing my funding model. I may consider an upfront fee where a portion or all of it is refundable upon completion of the appointment.
All I ask if that you bring some doubt as to what your future looks like. There is otherwise nothing you need to do to prepare for meetings with me or for any of my workshops, unless otherwise noted in the registration document. Meetings and workshops with me are about your mindset, your emotions, and your future you want to plan for.
